BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SCREENING COORDINATOR

The Behavioral Health Screening Coordinator will work in the Outreach and Access to Recovery Program for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color). The overall goal of the program is to address the disparities experienced in BIPOC communities regarding substance abuse including higher rates of overdose, lower likelihood of being identified as needing care, and lower access to needed services.

 

This full-time position with Macedonia Family and Community Enrichment Center will coordinate and provide behavioral health expertise to the Outreach and Access to Recovery Program. The Coordinator also assists consumers in evaluating their need for substance abuse and/or mental health intervention or treatment by conducting screening and assessments. The Coordinator assists the team and consumers in assessing needed services by maintaining knowledge and awareness of available services, keeping the team apprised of those resources, and identifying and addressing any barriers to accessing those services.

 

WHAT WILL I DO?

  • Work as a team member to create strategies and materials to reach BIPOC with information about substance abuse risks and opportunities for care.

  • Participate in community events providing expertise and information to the community regarding substance abuse, overdose risks, harm reduction strategies, and treatment availability.

  • Conduct screenings with individuals referred by the team or partner agencies and help participants to assess the need for further intervention or treatment.

  • Maintain a list of culturally competent referral resources for use by the team.

  • Make referrals when needed and assist consumers in addressing any barriers to accessing those resources.

  • Maintain routine follow up with consumers to encourage continued engagement in care.

  • Document screening evaluations in the consumer database.

 

EXPERIENCE/MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree in social work, psychology, education, or other health related field

  • 3-5 years’ community engagement experience

  • Knowledge and/or experience working with substance abuse and mental health issues

  • Skills and experience in conducting behavioral health screening and assessments

  • Knowledge regarding levels of care, treatment options and medication assisted treatment

  • Ability to use motivational interviewing techniques

  • Ability to work well with people of diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Excellent communication/public speaking ability

  • Organizational skills, along with detail-orientation

  • Act 33, 34 and FBI clearances required

  • Valid PA driver’s license, clean driving record, insurance, and registration required


SALARY:

$52,000/annual

All positions require satisfactory results of a background check and drug screen, as well as Act 33/34 and FBI fingerprint clearances. All employees will be subject to a probationary period of no less than 180 calendar days.
